Dogs Now Available for Adoption
Ready to Apply for a BAD RAP Dog? Click here to learn about our Adoption Policy Available: Bouncer NEWS: Bouncer bounced out of a recent foster-to-adopt home when the humans ran into personal problems (with each other, not with Doof Boy), so he's back on the playing field and looking for love ... One man's loss is another man's gain, and all that. Look at that face! Just under a year old, this silly boy is quite the clown. His body style is probably the result of someone trying to make an American Bully (google american bullies for info). He's not big, but is definitely bulky with a big round noggin' and short little legs ... a low-rider kinda dog. He's a delightfully cheerful and uncomplicated boy whose personality matches his looks...Funny how that happens! Extremely affectionate and eager to please, although still a little unfocused in that schpecial way teenage boy dogs can be. He's got some 'personal space issues,' ("You mean you don't like me cannon-balling into your lap?") but is learning how to use his brain now that he's in a foster home. He takes correction from bitchy girls very nicely, so could live happily with girl dog. He could play for hours on end with well socialized canine pals, although don't be fooled by his cuteness; he's no push-over and did puff up at our malamute-x, so will need proper intros with bigger males especially ... You know the drill, right? He's being fostered with cats, although it's too soon to say whether he's a good candidate for a cat home. He's a big flirt with people and will push his big head into any open hand or lap. Housetrained and accepts his crate, especially if there's a peanut butter stuffed kong inside for him to enjoy. No doubt, Bouncer has a long lifetime of silliness ahead of him, and so does the lucky person who ends up adopting him. Eva Peace Eva and her seven puppies were the first guests of our Rescue Barn, and we're so glad we decided to open the door a little early so they could find a safe haven. Eva was named after a fictional character in 'Sula,' a Toni Morrison book. In the story, Sula's grandma was Eva Peace who put her leg under a train so she could get insurance money for her kids. Our friend Susan Cava who named her told us, "I have a feeling this mama dog would do the same." We have to agree. We couldn't be happier with her old soul personality and are enjoying every minute of having her in our program. Eva's been calm, cheerful and so easy to live with - a good low-drama beginner's dog. She's very comfortable with our own dogs and is what we would call a dog social girl. We think she's about four years old and it seems that she enjoyed a decent life before she ended up homeless. She LOVES meeting new people, wrestling with her dog friends, napping in the sun and jumping up in the car for fun adventures on the road. She also appears to be good with cats. Update: A home has been approved to take Eva home on a foster/adopt contract. WOOT!

We're expecting great things out of this special one. Born around May 1, Hypatia has a small crew of admirers now sharing puppy duty, so she's getting all kinds of good socializing opps and loving every minute of it.Talk to us about: Hypatia

She's on her way to being a super star for some lucky home.Talk to us about: this pup
Available - Camelia All of the dogs in this litter are extremely social and affectionate, this girl included. Her warm, hopeful eyes knock us over. She's as raucous and rowdy as any of the pups, but enjoys her creature comforts when it's time to downshift. We predict that her Princess side will be in full swing as she comes into her own. Now being fostered in a home with male pit bull mix, she gets to go to work with foster dad and even rides in the sidecar of his bike. She's definitley getting a great outlook on life from all her adventures. Come and adopt her while she's still small! This pup is sprouting legs right in front of our eyes.Talk to us about: this pup
ADOPTION PENDING - Josephine She's bold, brassy and full of mischief. We get big belly laughs from watching her tease the big dogs into play and from racing around the yard at top puppy-speed. Josie has been the dog that tries everything first. She was doing zoomies before she really knew how to use her little body - hilarious! Quite the clown here ... We anticipate a bit of naughty and a lot of fun as this girl comes into her own.Talk to us about: this pup ![]()
Sanjay, Pepper and SLIDE SHOW. AVAILABLE: BoBo Belinda She's a little thing and will always be a smaller sized dog. Frequently mistaken for a labrador .. We know and love that she's a true blue pit bull. Her trademarks are her optimism and big face slurps. This is one very affectionate, happy-to-know-you kinda dog. Belinda's been living with three other dogs and has been picking up wonderful dog manners from each. You should see her in Pit Ed class sometime...She's not about to let the big dogs show her up -- She's one of the best students there. Adorable little girl. Check out this sweet PHOTO. AVAILABLE!: Loretta This adult female is as warm, hopeful and as genuine as you see here in her photos. Loretta's a grinner and if you're reeeal lucky, she'll flash her "love me please" pearly whites at you. Loretta is near-about 3-5 years old and is amazed by how the world works; She hasn't had much exposure to the good life, so everything delights her. Imagine how much fun it is to introduce her to life's pleasures. She's doing really well with other dogs and was even spied throwing herself into silly girl playbows for a stuffed animal in a petstore. Now ain't that special? We need to get this girl spayed and then will be making her available for adoption. If you're looking for a girl like this, we'd love to send you an application. AVAILABLE: It's Buck! Talk to Donna about: Buck ADOPTION PENDING: Dobby! BIG PHOTO We think Dobby's mom just might be Loretta (above). If so, that's great news since Loretta is one lovely dog. Dobby (pronounced Dah-Bee) reminds us of a little elf and was named by his foster mom after the Harry Potter character. He's having a good time in foster care, thanks to a loving foster family and Daphne and Scoopy -- two dogs who love them some puppies. From his foster mom, Becky... "He does fine with cats, he lets them boss him around and his only fault is he loves cat food. It needs to be up and out of his reach! He plays nicely with all dogs we've introduced him to, including small ones. He is learning some good wrestling moves from Daphne tho, he may prefer having a buddy who can keep up with him. He is getting more freedom off-leash in the house. He is pretty decently housebroken now, no accidents in a couple weeks. He does need puppy proof room, as he will chew inappropriate items but he loves Nylabones and will focus on those if you have them laying around for him. He uses a tie down well, but he does not like being left alone and will cry ... he is improving on this, and he is much better if he has a dog buddy with him. He doesn't bark at all in the dog yard with Scooby to keep him company. We have not been able to change his mind about crates ... still needs work on that, but he respects the tie down just fine and we don't use a cable either, just a leash. He seeks attention from every person he sees, and likes everyone so far, including my elderly wheelchair bound neighbor." We'd be happy to send you an application. For info contact Donna for: Dobby! ADOPTION PENDING: Pyper! Pyper was found roaming alone the in North Bay countryside. Now in foster case, this affectionate girl has quickly learned to settle in a crate and is considerate of her two older Pit bull foster home housemates. She spends part of her day gathering up stuffed animals and whatever else she can drag into her bed and playbowing to the resident goats (who have no idea what she's doing!) She is about a year old and has just started BAD RAP Pit Ed classes while also taking beginning obedience classes at a local dog training club. For an application, contact Linda for: Pyper All dogs that come into our program are spayed, microchipped, socialized to one or more other dogs, and given basic obedience. Adopters receive free training and support for the life of their dog - that includes coaching for each dog's Canine Good Citizen certification. They also 'inherit' the playmates they make during their time with us so smart owners can keep them socialized with fun play dates post-adoption. You join the BADRAP family when you adopt one of our wonderful dogs!Check out PYPER's NEW BLOG for day-to-day updates on this silly girl's time in foster care. ADOPTED!: Brutus Handsome Brutus is an adolescent male with genteel people skills. We could just fall into those sparkly warm eyes and never return. He's living with BR alum Tulip and her housemate critters while he gets settled in to life as a family pet. He definitely likes peanut-butter, as shown here in a photo generously donated by photographer Lori Fusaro. Brutus will be a smaller sized male. So far, he's quite fine with cats.COMING SOON: Pinky Deluxe! Presenting Pinky Deluxe - or - Pinky for short! Our girl came from a shelter in the central valley that put a call out for rescue help. She's a sweet little thing. Now that she's settling into foster care, she's full of smiles and zoomies and butt wiggles for anyone who smiles at her. This special girl is going to be a fantastic ambassador for her breed. She's getting along very nicely with other dogs and would love to share her life with a canine roomie. For an application, contact Donna for: Pinky Pink has her own BLOG, written by her foster mom. Check it out! NOTE! It turns out that Miss Pinks has two bad knees that need corrective surgery. AVAILABLE: Zippy! For info contact Donna for: Zippy! ![]() NEWS FLASH! RIP: Senior Man Rock There's nothing better than a sweet senior bully dog. Rock found himself out of luck at Humane Society Silicon Valley recently. The staff couldn't bring themselves to put this cuddly boy to sleep, so he made his way to our program. Rock is a true character and a classic clown. UPDATE: Sweet Rock passed on in peace this week due to issues related to his advanced age. We're indebted to foster parents Samantha Englage and Peter Do for giving him so much unconditional love and companionship in his final weeks. See post below for more information on the Compassion Hold program that gave Rock his final happiness.COMPASSION HOLDS - Can you help? Several times a year, we take in dogs that are considered unadoptable and we give them friendship and comfort for a few days, weeks or months in our homes. These dogs may be very old and frail, or have a terminal illness, or they may have a behavior issue that prevents them from finding a permanent home. In some cases, the dogs may live out their natural life in a home setting such as Susi Ming's Bully Haven. This form of rescue is some of the most important work we do, although admittedly it's hard on the heart. We're always looking for people who can provide some temporary comfort to a Compassion Hold case that comes to our attention. If you can't offer your home, consider sponsoring a dog in this program with either a financial gift or gently used supplies such as doggie wheelchairs, dog car ramps or help with special diets or supplements. For more details, contact us about: Compassion Holds Right: Elfaba (once known as 'Toes') in an older gal who came into Oakland Animal Services with an inoperable tumor on her pancreas. She's living out her natural life with a BR volunteer and is enjoying every luxury. ADOPTION PENDING: Trudy Too! Trudy Too is named after one of our all time favorite alumnae dogs. She's a highly social darlin,' full of good cheer and always happy to jump in and be part of whatever's going on... Ride in the car? Let's go! Toy time? - fantastic! Time to cuddle? What took you so long! Trudy is a young (1-2 year-ish) dog social beauty. A good first timer's dog, and a nice choice for a family with another dog or two at home. To see Trudy in action, check out the youtube video linked to Daisy's bio, below. She's still learning house manners, but we're making her available now to a new home.
