Foster Homes
Because there are no safe shelters for APBTs in the Northern CA area, volunteer foster homes mean the difference between life and death for a very small handful of deserving pit bulls lucky enough to secure them. Learn more Foster Home Faq If you think you have what it takes to help a dog or puppy get ready for a Real Life,
please email us through our Contact Page
and we'll phone you with details on how we partner with big hearted pit bull lovers to do this important work.
Educational Opportunities
One of the most important aspects of our mission is to be able to reach out and educate the general public about the truth of APBTs. If you have a venue in mind where you think BadRap can show off our rescued pit bulls while explaining the issues that affect this breed, please let us know. Some ideas are local parades, organized pet events including dog shows, magazine or newspaper articles, radio spots, school or club presentations and places for holding Adoption Day events. Donations of advertising
space is also a helpful way to get the word out about BadRap and our efforts. To see where we've been showing up around the Bay, visit our Events Page
Other Volunteer Opportunities
If you have a soft spot for this breed and want to help but can't foster,
consider volunteering for us in these ways: helping at various events, transporting dogs to and from veterinary care appointments, taking a dog through an obedience class to teach him his important doggie manners, doing homechecks in your part of the bay area for adoption candidates, posting flyers for dogs that need homes.
Sponsorship Program
If you're sweet on one of the dogs on our Available Page, consider being his/her special Sponsor Person. We'll put your name next to your favorite BAD RAP dog's photo and use part of your donation to buy a special toy for that dog. (This is a great way to give a birthday gift to an animal loving friend or relative - Of course, their name will go next to the dog of their choice!)
To see dogs now waiting for their very own sponsor, visit our Available Page and, let us know which dog you wish to sponsor when you send your gift. Thank You!
Donations
Listed below are some of the types of things we're constantly scrambling to secure in order to keep our rescued foster dogs healthy and safe while we get them ready for new homes:
General Dog Care Needs... Dog crates (both plastic and wire), blankets and dog beds, quality dog food and supplements (to help build compromised immune systems of neglected dogs), strong leashes, harnesses, collars, dog toys (kong balls, frisbees, rope toys and tennis balls are hits!) ... all these sorts of things help us manage the foster dogs in our homecare settings and get them ready for adoption.
Printing... Donations of reduced rates for printing will allow us to pass out more breed information materials at education events.
Veterinarian Resources... Reduced rates at vet hospitals and spay/neuter clinics are always very appreciated.
Sincere Thanks from all of us for being part of this effort to make our home in the SF Bay Area
a little better for the American Pit Bull Terrier breed.
This is 'Alice' - a smiling pit bull rescued from the back room of the
Oakland Animal Shelter and placed into a great home. Her story is on the Happy Endings Page.
BAD RAP recieves a few dollars for every Bully Breed magazine sold via this link. If you'd like to get yours and help plump up our Rescue Fund, we'd be very thankful. For Bully Breeds magazine:
